Fretboard Stuff

The old custom fret polisher with self-stick abrasive has worked well. The StewMac Duel-Grit diamond file on the 300 grit side (which I never use for crowning anyway), has a nice radius which also works well with the homemade/double-back tape tabs for polishing.

New Frets

Reconditioning the fretboard and installing new frets. With the truss rod just snug, the back bow does not seem that extreme. This is a light sanding which shows a dip at the 1st and 2nd frets(along with very light play wear). The other low area seems to begin around fret 16/17. The frets came out easy and clean, with no heat. They did not seem glued, and many around the body had rising ends. The slots do seem to be factory cut deeper than required. Thinking of StewMac Medium High replacements, a little larger/higher than the original frets.
